For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works...EPHESIANS 2:10
Deacon Board –
The Mt. Pilgrim MBC Deacon Board is one of the church ministries that has officers… The members of our Deacon board, primarily honor, respect and uphold the office of the Pastor of this church, honor respect and have a love for the congregation which is part of the body of Christ.
Under the prayerful guidance of our Pastor, Rev. Reginald Swift, the office of the Deacons of Mt. Pilgrim MBC is an honorable position. Scripture speaks of Deacons, alongside of a Bishop, of being honorable men. The responsibility of the Deacon is to be of assistance to the Pastor. 1st Timothy 3: 8-15 describes the qualities of a Honorable Deacon.
Even though, we are in the 21st century, the role of a deacon hasn’t changed as much as it was, according to Acts 6: 3; “Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;” ,but the Deacon may be called upon to teach, and if necessary bring the Word to the congregation.
But most importantly, a man of respect and a man that has the love of Jesus Christ in his heart. Thus, the Deacon ministry of Mt. Pilgrim MBC are prayerful that this body of believers will be a beacon of salvation in our neighborhood, community and city. It is our prayer that we offer the gift of Salvation and Redemption through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mission Ministry - Our commitment to our lord is in the service of staying connected with the sick and shut-in. Our goal is to carry this out by either visiting, phone calls, or sending greeting card. We aim to encourage, pray and listen to our family of faith on an on-going basis. Matthew 25: 34-39 -
34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

Sunday School– email address - desi_362@yahoo.com
“Sunday schools aim at helping people from all age groups to adopt the principles of God. Sunday school education intends to teach people the ways to adhere to ideals in life. At times, this involves the learning of scriptures from the Bible. Learning what the Bible has to say helps the people communicate with God. Enabling the communication of a common man with God is an important goal of Sunday schools. They aim at bringing about a spiritual growth of their students.”( https://spiritualray.com/what-is-purpose-of-sunday-school).
The Mt. Pilgrim MBC Sunday School encourages the knowledge of the Word of God. Sunday School attendance should begin when children begin attending regular school, whether public or private. Sunday School should promote the progressive, experiential, and personal knowledge of the Bible at all levels, as early as possible.
It is knowledge that grows. As Christians, we need to grow in our actual, and personal knowledge of Jesus Christ. Also, our teachers should be grounded and rooted in this knowledge. They should pray constantly for the discernment of the Holy Spirit, to detect the deceptive teaching of the ungodly. This knowledge is the greatest protection against false teaching, as well as deepening the understanding of the spoken Word.

The Ministry of Church Ushering is a sacred and powerful responsibility. A Church Usher helps the Pastor by making sure all members and guest are greeted warmly and by doing what is necessary to put guests in the right frame of mind for worship. Church Ushers must possess a spirit of meekness and humility and must be well-trained in all aspects of the techniques of Church Ushering in order to master the situations that may arise during a church service.
Often times, we do not know or forget from whence comes ushering - from God. God was the very first usher - as he ushered in day and light (Gen. 1:3-4). God ushered man into the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:15).Ushers or forerunners are depicted throughout the Bible. Abraham ushered Faithfulness into the world (Gen. 22). Moses ushered the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt into the promised land. The Star of Bethlehem ushered the wise men of the East to the place where Christ was born, John the Baptist forerunner of Christ – prepared the way for the Messiah, as the voice crying in the wilderness (John 1:6-13).
Youth/Young Adult Ministry -
It should be the desire of Christian parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles want all of our youth to know Jesus Christ and to find their ultimate joy and satisfaction in Him. We pray for the youth ministry that will develop their understanding of the greatness of God, and to offer inspiration and praise while in the interest of righteousness. As a growing church we invite and encourage our young people to serve the in the church as well as reach out to our community in many essential and significant ways.
Serving others is very fulfilling for any Christian. For our youth it will enable them to build relationships, share the Gospel message through actions and words, and make a positive impact on many people’s lives.
